Potato chips Recently at lunch, my friends and I started talking about our weekend plans. "Anything special?" we asked each other.  No!  Our to-do list (going to soccer games, softball games, grocery shopping, planting a garden, cleaning the house, cooking, etc.) fills up our "supposedly" down-time.  But where's the fun in all this multi-tasking?

Sometimes joy comes in treating ourselves to something decadent.

I try to be good as the Healthy Living Editor.  I get up at 4 every day and go to the gym.  I drink my water, try to watch what I eat, and practice portion control.  But let me let you in on a little secret...every now and then I like to have a Coke (a real Coke) and a bag of potato chips.  It's not all the time, but having an occasional indulgence makes me happy.

We all deserve a little treat sometime.  Tell us about your favorite indulgence in the comments section below.

Expensive chocolate!!! If you buy the good stuff, I feel like you eat less and enjoy it more.

Freshly made pizza and cheeseburgers!

Nicole,
I so agree. I keep a bar of the good stuff in the refrigerator and break off a small piece to satisfy my chocolate craving.

When I am traveling on a road trip, it is a Baby Ruth candy bar that becomes my indulgence.

Chocolate Chip ice cream is my indulgence. I'll have to try that expensive chocolate next time.

I have worked a full-time and part-time job for six years now and sometimes on Friday I am mentally drained. I grab a good book or magazine, bottle of chilled wine and something to eat that's not health conscious and just chill!

dark chocolate (only the really good stuff and sometimes with fruit or nuts in it), a glass of deep ruby red wine, a nice bath, a great book, an hour to myself without distraction to focus on anything I might want to do at that time and any combination of the above.

My favorite indulgence isn't a food. I find that a day or weekend once in a while doing what I want instead of what everyone else in the family wants works as a great rejuvinator.

I have planned a day or two with a galpal to go shopping, take in a movie, have lunch or dinner. I find I'm refreshed enough by the end of the day to deal with whatever the next month.

I also plan one week a year where I go on my own vacation without the family. A group of friends and I go to another friend's Bed & Breakfast on the ocean and have a great time: goofing off, eating seafood and dark chocolate, scrapbooking, shopping, taking a class at the local scrap store, just having a great time overall.

It gives me a needed break from having to do housework and cooking, along with a lot of laughter.

My favorite indulgence is a Saturday morning spent at Estate Sales & Yard/Garage Sales. I have found some unique items over the years at great prices. I can allow myself to buy whatever I want because the cost is so low, & come home with a car full of books, pictures, clothes, furniture & other treasures.

I like to settle down with a LARGE glass of sweet tea (the real sweet tea!), a good book and one of my adorable little "kitties".

A special indulgence for me is a white chocolate martini or key lime pie martini---they make a fabulous desert when you feel like splurging a little!

Ice cream any flavor but especially like Bluebell brand.

I like sour gummy worms!

My favorite indulgence isn't food either. That's because I indulge on a regular basis as it is (love Tex-Mex and chocolate-covered almonds)! I go for a facial at my neighborhood spa. Just zoning out for an hour with mellow music and low lights while someone pampers me with beauty products does it for me.
