Discoverygreen At least in some parts of the South, where warmer temperatures are inviting us to get outside and enjoy one of the best things about living here -- the weather!

It seemed like everyone here in Birmingham was taking advantage of the warmer temperatures over the weekend (especially remarkable because we had snow just a week ago). Any excuse to get outside and we did -- working on our yards, taking walks with friends.

My son and I enjoyed our first jog of the spring, which got my heart rate up and him away from the television that we tend to gravitate to during winter months.

Now with Daylight Saving Time and longer evenings, there's even more time for us to enjoy the weather into the evenings. In the coming weeks and months, we'll be featuring ways for you to get active outdoors.

What about you? Help us by answering the following question. Your answer could appear in an upcoming issue of Southern Living!

Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the beautiful weather.  When it comes to keeping fit, tell us your favorite way to get moving outside.

I go to the high school soccer field near my apartment. I jog a lap on the on the track, then sprint (well, run as fast as I can...) up the stadium steps. I follow that with a brisk walking lap and repeat until I've jogged 2 miles. The fresh air and nostalgia is a great motivator.

I'm a new mom this spring so I am enjoying the longer days by taking walks and doing yoga outside. I bring my baby with me so we can continue to bond and point out all of the scents and sights to her so she will develop a love of the outdoors too!

Those are great ideas! Suzy, that's a great observation about nostalgia. I'm a big believer that it's tough to stick to regular exercise unless you really enjoy it, and it seems that you've found a workout niche that works - good for you.

Jen, congratulations on your new baby! You're giving her a great gift in teaching by example. Have you taken any yoga classes for mom and baby?

I take long walks on the weekend. It is an opportunity to work through the things on my mind (and then leave them behind me) or just zone out to good music. Refreshing my ipod is a great motivator.

One of my favorite things to do once warm weather hits is to get out of the city and go on a satisfying, long hike with friends. We choose a rigorous scenic trail, pack water and energizing snacks, and tackle the hike at a brisk clip and with great conversation.

I like to take advantage of living in the city when the weather is warm. I run or roller blade on the path by the river, or meet a friend in Central Park for some exercise (and then breakfast at the diner!)

My husband and I just purchased our first home. We are excited to spend some time setting up a garden in the yard. Exploring our new town and the nearby parks and hiking trails are also on the list. What a perfect time to begin our new life together!

I take my dog to the beach now that there is more sunlight later. Relaxing and fun!

I've been talking 3-5 mile walks with my husband throughout surrounding neighborhoods. It gives us the chance to get outside and get fresh air but also to explore. We also pick "destinations" to end our walks and pop into a new wine bar or a cafe for a treat.

Now that the temperatures are rising and if my workday allows some time, I like to get out of the office on my lunch break and take a quick 30-35 minute walk. This revives me, gives my eyes a break from the computer screen, and I can breathe some fresh uncirculated air!

It's always fun to walk around street fairs & farmers markets - I love getting fresh & healthy foods to grill now that its brighter & warmer outside!
